Robert "Bob" L. Hennessy, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha after a short illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at All Saints Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a vigil prayer at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Hennessy of Cedar Rapids; sons, Jim (Mary) Hennessy of Fountain, Mich., and Steve (Beth) Hennessy of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Mary Jo (John) O'Connell of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Hennessy; and a brother, Francis Hennessy.
Robert Lewis Hennessy was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Waterloo, Iowa, to James and Clara Hennessy. Robert proudly served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Bob found the love of his life, Alice Kremer, in Waterloo, and married her on Sept. 8, 1951. Alice and Bob moved to Cedar Rapids and started a family, resulting in three children. Bob's professional career was 35 years at Cryovac as a machinist and another 15 years assisting customers at Hy-Vee. He volunteered at Mercy Auxilliary and All Saints Catholic Church. His hobbies included golf, oil painting, walking frequently and following the Chicago Cubs for years. Bob was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus, chapters 909 and 5677.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church or the Oldorf Hospice House.
