Robert "Bob" E. Gross, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
passed away at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Bob was born on April 18, 1930, in Hutchinson, Kan.
He was the son of the late Reinhold and Mildred (Rayl) Gross. On June 20, 1954, Bob married Norma Grace Unger in Santana, Kan. In his younger years, Bob and Norma loved to go motorcycling, an adventure that took them to some great places. Bob was a veteran in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Rockwell for several years. Bob was a family man, he always put his family's needs ahead of his own and Bob lived life to the fullest.
Those left to cherish Bob's memory are his wife, Norma; his children, Tammy (Russell) Becker of Toddville, Iowa, Michael (Cathy) Gross of Palo, Iowa, and Brenda (Steve) Cahill of Palo, Iowa; his grandchildren, Dustin (Keegan) Gross, AJ (Jessica) Gross, Elizabeth Becker, Emily (Sean) Scheibe, Courtney (Neal) Johnson, Leanne Becker, Cole (Kaylee) Gross and Tricia Becker; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Cook of Hutchinson, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Jean Gross of Larned, Kan., and Janis Pierson of Hutchinson, Kan.; and many other nieces, nephews and living relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Jr.; and two brothers, Bill Gross and Jerry Gross.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at St. Luke's Hospice as well as all of the nurses on the fifth floor.
