ROBERT "BOB" FRANCIS DRAHOZAL

Robert "Bob" Francis Drahozal of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully at age 87 on April 28, 2022.
Bob was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School and continued his education at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He later obtained an M.B.A. from the University of Iowa.
Bob met the love of his life, Norine Wenthold, at a mixer at Mount Mercy School of Nursing. They were united in marriage on July 30, 1960. They had four sons and a daughter. Bob would often say that his greatest accomplishment in life was marrying Norine and raising five great kids with her.
Bob, with Norine, traveled across America and to several countries around the world. He loved playing basketball and softball and also coached boys and girls basketball. He enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeyes and KU Jayhawks sports on TV. Bob read extensively and would often tell stories from the history books he read.
After retiring from Rockwell Collins in 1996, Bob followed his true passions: history and genealogy. He was a volunteer at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library and a researcher for the Linn County History Museum.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary; and his siblings, Brother Ronald and Dolores "Lori" Neblung and her husband, Don.
Bob will be forever cherished by his beloved wife, Norine; his childrenm Christopher (Kaye), Lisa (Justin), Rick, Jaime (Nancy) and Mark; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Matty (S.J.), Julia, Ryan and Erin.
A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Pius X Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. A lunch will then be served, followed by burial services at St. John's Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Hospice of Mercy, St. Pius X Church, His Hands Free Clinic or a charity of your choice.
