Robert George Allard, 91, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born in Cedar Rapids to parents George and Lyda (Sorensen) Allard. He was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Porterfield during World War II. He had a lifetime career at Iowa Electric Light and Power Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Hasley, Ray Allard and Ronald Allard.
Survivors include four daughters, Florene (Tim) Akers, Cheryl (Jon) Harger, Robin (Jerry) Squires and Audra (Jim) Butler; four sons, Steven (Connie) Allard, Dennis (Darlene) Allard, Robert (Pat) Allard and Gary (Laura) Allard; brother, Roy Allard; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon with burial following.
