Robert A. Jayne, 84, of rural Center Point, died at his home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Robert Jayne, under the video tab starting at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Roy) Horning of Springville; two sons, Joel (Melissa) and Kevin (Linda); and a special friend, Linda Dahl, all of Cedar Rapids. He also is survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, parents, one brother and two sisters.
Robert was born on Oct. 21, 1936, in Cedar Rapids. He married Joyce A. Floerchinger on Aug. 5, 1956, in Cedar Rapids. Joyce passed away in 2014.
Robert was a metal fabricator at Rockwell-Collins for more than 35 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Optimist Club and was a Boy Scout Leader where he was the Golf Merit Badge Counselor for them. He was an avid golfer and scored a hole-in-one last year while golfing in Texas.
