Rita M. Corrigan, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held
one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will be held at Calvary
Cemetery in Ryan, Iowa. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Rita was born on Sept. 9, 1935, in Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Irene (English) Richmond. She was married to John Corrigan and they had three sons together. They were later divorced. She was retired from National Oats/Ralston Foods. Rita was a devoted member of St. Matthew Catholic. She attended Mass daily and helped with funeral dinners. She also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Rita enjoyed going shopping.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Lorene Richmond and Shirley Richmond; and her nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sons, Steven Corrigan, Gary "Corky" Corrigan and Craig Corrigan; two sisters, Delores Richmond and Donna Cones; and two brothers, Donald Richmond and William "Bill" Richmond.
