Rita Kay (Gehrs) Krusor passed into the hands of the Lord on July 5, 2015, at the age of 72. She died from complications of lymphoma, which she courageously battled for the last 10 months.
She was born July 5, 1942, in Versailles, Mo. Her parents were Mancil Gehrs and Loyce (Brown) Gehrs. Her formative years were spent in Hollister, Mo., until she was 16. She then moved with her family to Nevada, Mo., where she graduated from high school in 1961. She received her
elementary education degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1964.
Her teaching career included: Cuba, Mo.; Liberty, Mo.; Rossevelt Roads NAS of the Antilles Consolidated School System, Puerto Rico; and East Buchanan Community School, Winthrop. After retirement in 2001, she substitute taught at East Buchanan and Center Point lower elementary. Rita was a very talented and popular kindergarten teacher becoming the favorite of a great many East
Buchanan graduates. Rita made many friends wherever she went. They and her family mourn her death.
Rita married Kenton Krusor on Dec. 30, 1967, in Springfield, Mo. They lived and made their home in and around the Winthrop and Quas-queton area for all of the 47 years
of married life, both teaching at East Buch-anan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers and one infant son, Brian.
Surviving are her husband, Kenton; one son, Blaine Andrew Krusor of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Sondra Davis of Nevada, Mo.; and a great number of relatives, colleagues, friends and former students.
Visitation will be held at the Church of Christ United in Winthrop on Thursday, July 9, beginning at noon and including a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. Inurnment will be held at the Fairview Cemetery at a date later to be announced.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials and gifts may be directed to the Church of Christ United, 354 N. Second St., Winthrop, IA 50682; and designated for either Cedar Valley Hospice or the Buchanan County Animal Rescue.
