RITA (NOONAN-RIES) HARTUNG

Rita (Noonan-Ries) Hartung, 78, of Monticello, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello with a parish vigil service at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate, with the Rev. Carl Ries co-officiating.
Rita was born July 24, 1938, in Bernard, Iowa, to Walter and Pauline (Brady) Noonan.
She is survived by daughters, Maureen (Joe) McEvoy and Patti (Jim) Kula; grandchildren, Brian, Jessica and Andrew McEvoy; and in-laws, Ann Noonan, Kay Noonan, Charles (Geraldine) Ries, John (Ruth) Ries, Mary (Ralph) Brown, Joann (Martin) Kruse, Frank (Cheryl) Ries, Kathleen (Gerald) Becker, Fred (Sandra) Ries, Edward (Eileen) Ries, Janet Thomas; Merle (Susan) Ries, Marjorie (Larry) Gaul, Bernice Snyder, Mary (Earl) Fisher and Bernadine Hartung.
Rita married Walter Ries on Oct. 7, 1961. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1984. She married Lawrence Hartung on Nov. 4, 1989. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2013.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Norbert Noonan, Merlin Noonan, Kathleen Pagani, Richard Noonan and Delbert Noonan.
