Rita J. Glime, 68, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City, with the Rev. Doug Rokke officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and an hour before the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in La Porte City.
Rita was born Jan. 18, 1946, the daughter of Henry and Harriet Bruch Siek. She grew up in Blairstown and graduated from Blairstown High School in 1964. She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1968. On Feb. 25, 1967, she married David Glime in Blairstown. The couple farmed near La Porte City and Rita worked for over 25 years at Waterloo Industries, retiring from her manager's position in 2011.
Rita was a Master Gardener and member of the Vinton Garden Club. She served as a 4-H leader and she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and antiques.
She was a very caring person and she loved spending time with her grand-children.
She is survived by her mother, Harriet Siek, Blairstown; husband, David Glime, La Porte City; children, Gwendolyn Vogeler, La Porte City, and Wyatt (Monica) Glime, Everly; six grandchildren; brothers, H. Marion (Nancy) Siek and Richard Siek, both of Blairstown, and Robert (Vicki) Siek, Lamoni; and sister-in-law, Ann Glime, Colesburg.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry, and sister-in-law, Sheryl Siek.
A memorial fund has been established.
