Rita Jean Fields, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Rita was born Aug. 18, 1923, in North Liberty, the daughter of Robert and Julia (Krob) Cerhan. She married William Fields on July 24, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford. Rita worked at Armstrongs for 18 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and taking hot air balloon rides.
Rita is survived by two sons, James Fields (Mary) of Cedar Rapids and Jerald Fields of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Travis (Michelle), Christina, Angela, Kari and Abi; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, David and Elisabeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fields; a daughter, Linda Fields; and a brother, Robert Cerhan.
