Rita D. Bedard, 89, of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Briarwood Health Care Center. A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rita Bedard Memorial Fund.
Rita was born July 17, 1926, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Johann and Dora (Galipeau) Hausler. She graduated with an associate's degree in business administration from Joan of Arc Academy in Ottawa. Rita was united in marriage to Frederic Bedard on Oct. 7, 1944, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2013. She was an intake technician at the Linn County Psychiatric Clinic for 14 years. She was also a sales coordinator for Bankers Advertising, before retiring in 1990. Rita was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the American Business Women's Association in Cedar Rapids.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Danielle Holbrook of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Stephanie Reinhold of Des Moines and Matthew (Kelly) Reinhold of Waukee; and three great-grandchildren, Rowan, Maier and Bo.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic; parents; and two siblings, Robert and Lillian Hausler.
