Ringgold, Erva Loretta
Erva Loretta Ringgold, 90, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Towson, Md., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon to 3 p.m. at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C., at a later date. Erva will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Charles. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Charles L. (Jana) Ringgold Jr., Col. (Ret.); daughter, Patricia T. (Jeff Riecke) Ringgold; sister, Faye McMinn of San Francisco, Calif.; and brother, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Joseph Kondracki of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Erva was born July 28, 1922, in Donora, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Huhra) Kondracki. She met and married Charles L. Ringgold, a career U.S. Army Officer, who was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Charles passed away in 1985 at the age of 77. Erva was a homemaker, an avid volunteer, and also worked in real estate. She truly enjoyed the game of Bridge and was a master Bridge player. Erva enjoyed crafts and golfing, and was still playing golf into her 80s.
