Rieder, Gerald Anthony
Gerald Anthony Rieder, 68, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Davis Center in Bloomfield following an extended illness. A private family Funeral Mass will be Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, with Father Dustin Vu as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald was born June 18, 1941, near Vinton, to Bernard and Nelda (Sindt) Rieder, and graduated from Newhall High School. As a young man, he had been employed at Colonial Bakery in Cedar Rapids. Gerald enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting, and he loved dogs and all animals.
He is survived by his sisters, Kathy Leick of Prescott, Ariz., Colleen Shaffer of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joan (Frank) Zelezny of Kalispell, Mont.; his brothers, Dan (Deb) Rieder of Guernsey, Tony (Roxanne) Rieder of Amana and Dave Rieder of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Rieder; and his nephews, Jeff Rieder, Aaron Bensmiller and Kade Rieder.
