Rick Dean Petz passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Bird House Hospice of Johnson County in Iowa City at age 63.
Rick was born March 26, 1954, in Williamsburg, the son of Edward and Audrey (Smith) Petz. He graduated from Williamsburg High School. Rick was united in marriage to Gale Shaver on May 13, 1988, in Parnell. To this union, they were blessed with a daughter. They later divorced. Rick worked in the concrete business.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and working on cars.
He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey (Nick) Schropp of Parnell; a grandson, Jarek Schropp; five siblings, Annette (Nick) Smith of Frisco, Texas, Connie (Bob) Richards of Iowa City, Joe Petz of Williamsburg, Angie (Craig) Cochran of West Branch and Dave Petz of Williamsburg; and two sisters-in-law, Barb Petz of Missouri and Brenda Petz of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Duane, Lyle and Denny Petz; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
Celebration of Life visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. There will be a private family memorial service at 6 p.m.
Memorials are for the Bird House Hospice of Johnson County.
