Rick Glen Mead, 63, of New Port Richey, Fla., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he grew up in Cedar
Rapids, where he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. After graduation he went to work with fast-food restaurants and worked his way up to senior district manager, leading multi-unit operations throughout the Southeast for several large national brand franchisees during his
43-year career.
Rick had a servant's heart, loved the Lord and was active in his church. He regularly kept in touch with many longtime friends, co-workers and church family who lived all over the country.
Rick was a huge New York Yankees and Iowa Hawkeyes fan and an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Gilliland; his stepmother, June Mead of Marion; his son, Jeremy (Laurie) Mead of Cedar Rapids; his daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Crider of Olive Branch, Miss., and Megan Mead of La Mirada, Calif.; his stepson, Dylan (Brandi) Grogan of Spartanburg, S.C.; his brothers, Mike (Connie) Mead of Cedar Rapids and Ron (Linda) Mead of St. Louis, Mo.; and his five grandchildren, Sam and Nate Mead, Eli and Charlotte Crider and Kaiyden Grogan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Mead, and his mother, Margaret Mead.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Jan. 16, followed by a 2 p.m. celebration of Rick's life at his home, located at 11963 Old Tuscany Pl., New Port Richey, FL 34654.
