Rick Bailey 63, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A Celebration of Life service will be 3 p.m. June 17 at Unity Center, Cedar Rapids.
Rick was born in San Francisco, Calif., to Winford and Ruby (Childers) Bailey. He worked for Amana Refrigeration as a sales representative in the San Francisco area for 23 years. Before that he worked as a restaurant manager for several years. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Thayer, on Sept. 14, 1997, in Huntsville, Ala. The newlyweds then started their home in the Cedar Rapids area.
Left to cherish Rick's memory are his wife of 18 years, Carolyn Bailey; his pug, Vito; his mother, Ruby (Carl) Lawrence; brother, Ron Bailey; brother-in-law, Douglas (Janice) Thayer; two nieces; one nephew; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winford.
A memorial fund has been established in Rick's name.
