Richmond, Ronnie 'Ron' L.
Ronnie “Ron” L. Richmond, 74, of Swisher, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, and as always, he was surrounded by his loving family. Ron wanted nothing more than to have his friends remember him with a party to be held at the Swisher American Legion Hall from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids.
Ron was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Anita Bubenyak on Sept. 14, 1957, (Happy Birthday, indeed!) They moved to Swisher, where they resided for 46 years. He loved his town and all the loyal friends he made throughout the years, especially his “Legion crew” that he met with weekly.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR and his wild and crazy family get-togethers.
Ron was a wonderful father and grandpa and a very proud great-grandpa.
Left to celebrate his memory are his sons, Dale (Tina) Richmond and Dean (Dawn) Richmond; grandchildren, Cory (Jen Timm), Danielle (Brett Cooper), Casey, Dillon and Cole; great-grandson, Dempsey; and brother, Pat Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Ann; and sister-in-law, Marita.
“Grandpa” always had something to say and his quick wit drew many to him. He will be missed, but his sense of humor will live on through those he touched. We love you, Grandpa! ‘MERICA!'
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Honey Creek Cottage, especially Theresa, (He adored you!), and St. Luke's Hospice.
All memorials will be directed to Honey Creek Cottage in Swisher.
Please sign the online guest book for Ron at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
