Richardson, Willis F.
Willis F. Richardson, 91, of 5911 Decatur St. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness. Memorial services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where there also will be military rites. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday at the chapel. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Oklahoma, and Gary (M.J.) and Deane (Gae), all of Cedar Rapids; a stepson, Everett (Linda) Young of Marion; a brother, Herbert of Marion; and a sister, Wilma Frantz of Anamosa.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Willis was born on Feb. 13, 1919, in Linn County, the son of Frank and Nellie Lentz Richardson. He married Maxine Burger. She died in 1969. He later married Irene Young on May 25, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2006. Willis worked at Wilson and Co. for over 41 years, retiring in 1980. He proudly served in the Army during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Willis' name.
