Richard W. “Dick” Trimble, age 87, died Thursday, September 19, 2024, at his home.
Richard Wayne Trimble was born January 1, 1937, in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Clifford and Dorothy (Hedges) Trimble. Growing up in West Liberty he graduated from high school there and later attended Iowa City Business College. During the Korean Conflict Dick served his country in the United States Navy. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Judye J. Benson here in Iowa City. The couple and their family have made their home here ever since and Dick was associated with State Farm Insurance as one of their finest agents for over 40 years.
Dick has been an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan through thick and thin, and loved his NASCAR. But near and dear to Dick’s heart was his family, especially as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came into the family. Grampa Dick was the best at so much with these kids!
His family includes his wife, Judye; their children, Rhonda Bean (Jeff), Richard Trimble Jr., and Robert Trimble (Elizabeth); 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Miller (John); and two brothers, Duane Trimble (Mary) and Charles Trimble.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Robin Hilding and Renee Trimble; 2 grandsons, Nick and Ashley; 1 great-granddaughter, Allie; and sister Evelyn Polman.
