Richard D. "Dick" Utt Sr. died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entomb-ment with military honors will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dick was born June 16, 1933, in What Cheer, to Thomas and Blanche (Bullock) Utt. After graduating from Thornburg High School, he spent four years in the U.S. Navy from 1953 through 1957. Following his honorable discharge, Dick was united in marriage to Ruth Mitchell in Dumont on Jan. 11, 1958. To this union, two children were born.
Dick worked for LeFebure Corp. for 38 years and was a member of UAW Local 1506 for many years.
Dick enjoyed being outdoors at the family cabin fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and Hawkeye sports, especially football.
He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth; children, Richard (Harumi) Utt Jr. of La Vernia, Texas, and Deborah (Ron) Leeper of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Ricky, Raiden and Nicole Utt of La Vernia, Texas, Cody and Austin Leeper of Cedar Rapids; as well as brother, Bill Utt of Cedar Rapids.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Betty Whitaker and Marilyn Middleton.
