Richard A. "Dick" Stockman, 68, of rural Oxford, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at his home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, with burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, and on Monday after 9 a.m. until services at the church. A parish vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dick's memory to Iowa City Hospice, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Oxford or the charity of your choice.

Richard Allen Stockman was born July 2, 1946, in Iowa City, the son of S.J. "Wimpy" Stockman and Lucille (Allen) Stockman. Following graduation from Clear Creek High School in 1964, he attended and graduated from Iowa State University in 1968. Dick returned to Oxford to farm and shortly after, met his future bride, Sandy Goodwin. The couple was married Aug. 16, 1975.
Dick continued farming, especially enjoying his cattle operation. He also worked a number of part time jobs over the years, including Stockman Feed and Supply. In 1992, Dick started working at Amana Refrigeration and continued this until his retirement in 2009.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, Oxford First Responders and Firemen and was active with his sons in 4-H as they were growing up.
His family includes his wife, Sandy; sons, Jeff and Joel and his wife, Frances, and grandson, Boden, all of Los Angeles; Dick's siblings, Gerald "Bub" Stockman (Kate) of Oxford, Cherlyn Ahrens of Iowa City, Earlis "Brick" Stockman (Kathleen) of Oxford, Marlene Everhart (Richard) of Centennial, Colo., and Deb Stockman of Oxford; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick spent over 50 years of his life on the farm, raising his family on the farm, renovating the old farmhouse to a beautiful new 100-year-old home, and dying at peace as a farmer on his farm!
