Richard T. Riniker, 71, of Dyersville, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville. Visitation will continue
Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home before the funeral service. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey Dole will officiate.
Dick was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Art and Dorothy (Lochner) Riniker. He married Shirley Smith on Nov. 25, 1972, in Dyersville. She preceded him in death in 2008. Together they farmed several places until retirement when he began working for Gene Duschner Dairy. He loved to watch western movies.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Riniker of Malden, Mass., and John (Heather) Riniker of Monticello; a granddaughter, KoreeAnn Riniker; siblings, Don (Carol) Riniker of Holy Cross, Stella (Paul) Helle of Dyersville, Theresa (Jim) Richter of Earlville, Alice (Bill) Weick of Dubuque and Dan Riniker of Maquoketa; and in-laws, Dennis Manternach of Cascade, Janaan Kraus of Monticello, Kay (Elmer) Heitz of Farley, Kenny (Cathy) Smith of Hopkinton, Gary (Marilyn) Smith of Manchester, Betty (Jerry) Ries of Earlville, John (MaryAnn) Smith of Ryan, Mary Ellen (Jim) Waite of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Mary) Smith of Marion and Kenneth Zangerle of Hopkinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; one daughter, Sherry Riniker; parents-in-law, Bernadette and Clarence Smith; a sister, Marian Manternach; in-laws, Maxine Zangerle and Walter Kraus; two nephews; and two nieces.
