Richard Charles Olson, 85, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at his residence in Marion. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at the Chapel of Memories in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Richard Charles Olson was born on June 3, 1932, the son of Alfred and Ellen (Johnson) Olson. Richard was united into marriage to Esther Berry on Nov. 30, 1968, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked for KGAN Channel 2 as a broadcast technician. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, riding his motorcycle, walking, making odd artwork, and most of all loved spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Alfred Olson Jr., Donna Budlong and James (Jim) Olson.
Left to cherish Richard's memories are his wife, Esther of Marion; son, Lance Olson of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Lloyd Olson of Onalaska, Wis.; and many nieces.
