RICHARD MICHAEL "MIKE" MULLANE
Portland, Ore.
Richard Michael "Mike" Mullane, 69, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Blairstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, from cardiopulmonary arrest after suffering a fall at his home. Born June 16, 1949, Mike was the son of George and Bonnie Mullane and was raised in Blairstown.
He was a graduate of Benton Community High School and received a B.A. in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mike suffered from the effects of PTSD and Agent Orange for many years after serving as a Marine in Vietnam. He was very active in the Veterans For Peace movement after the war and devoted his life to peace. Mike worked for the Oregon Symphony for many years and was a published poet and playwright. He loved the arts, living his life as an artist in everything he did.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette, Portland, Ore.; his brother, Patrick (Kathy) Mullane, Marengo; nephew, Riley (Melissa) Mullane; great-niece, Iylah Mullane and great-nephew, Asher Mullane, all of Cedar Rapids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held in Portland at a later date.
