Richard E. Light, 71, of Lisbon, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Visitation: 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. There will be a private family burial in Lisbon Cemetery.
Surviving Richard are his wife, Carol; a daughter, Lisa (Rawley) Alger of Lisbon; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Lucas and Melissa.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Lora; and a son-in-law, Craig Sproston.
He was born Jan. 3, 1942, to Homer and Grace Light, and graduated from Lisbon High School. He married Carol Peters on July 27, 1963. Richard retired after 39 years from Towns Edge/Cedar Rapids Toyota.
Richard also spent much of his time raising livestock on the family farm.
He was very proud of the generations of Lights and Kohls who settled the area. Although often a quiet man, he was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them very much.
Richard enjoyed nice cars, good food and a fine drink.
The family would like to thank Dr. Katie Kavanaugh and Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center for its loving care of Richard.
A memorial fund in Richard's honor has been established.
