Richard Leland Hite, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. A private inurnment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Richard was born on March 20, 1945, to Leeland Hite and Doris Hite Bernacki. Rick will always be remembered as a loving father and husband who sacrificed everything to put his family and children first. He loved singing, playing the guitar, racing his BMX cruiser, NASCAR, and traveling the U.S. watching his kids race BMX.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joleen Hite; children, Kelly (James) Reid, Doug (Joyce) Hite, and Shawna (Mark) Sailor; stepchildren, Thomas Etoll and Nicole Placzek; grandchildren, Keith Coppernoll, Zachary Sailor, Ashley (James) Brown, and Joshua (Vanessa) Miller; great-grandchildren, Aylah Brown; and siblings, Terry Hite, Bruce Hite, Dan Bernacki, Dave Bernacki, Deb Bernacki, Jesse Bernacki, and Beth Hiner.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Hite; parents; and stepdaughter, Lynn Maher.
