Richard Lee Thimsen, 72, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eagle Ridge Community Center on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m., 1285 Red Fox Way, Marion, IA 52302.
Donations will be accepted in lieu of flowers.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Thimsen; grandchilden, Davion and Daijah; and stepson, Eric Arp.
Richard was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Mount Vernon, Ky. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1963 and then served in the U.S. Marines. Richard started his promoting company, C&R Productions, in 1988. He went on to promote fishing, boat, RV and craft shows until he was "run out of business by Hawkeye Downs and their gouging prices." Richard also drove a school bus for Linn-Mar for 22 years.
Richard enjoyed fishing, gambling, travel and spending time with his daughter and grandkids. He loved watching westerns, racing, golf and crime dramas on TV.
Richard had quick wit, a tell it like it is attitude and a great sense of humor. He was greatly loved by his family and friends, but will be missed by all.
