Richard L. Bull, 81, of Palo, passed away Oct. 3, 2022, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Ocy. 6, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private Interment: Palo Cemetery.
Richard was born on May 13, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Gerald and Ethel (Packingham) Bull. He graduated from Palo High School. Dick was united in marriage to Judy Leonard on May 27, 1962, at The Church at Covington. He was a lifelong farmer. Dick was a member of Palo United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Benton City Masonic Lodge #81 in Shellsburg, Iowa. In addition, he had served as chairman of District 6 Township Fire Department. Dick was also a Beef Producer and Pork Producer in Linn County. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Over the years, he made several trips to the Black Hills in South Dakota.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judy of Palo; daughters, Christine (Chris) Luke of Cedar Rapids and Shelly (John) Railsback of Palo; grandchildren, Natasha (Travis) Schrage, Aaron (Andrea) Luke, Ben (Hannah) Railsback and Morgan (Logan) Klopping; great-grandchildren, Jase, Cole, Addy, Lucas, Asher, Daisy and Hunter; brother, Gordon (Deb) Bull of Palo; brothers-in-law, Bob (Donna) Leonard and Jim (Laura) Leonard; and his beloved Border Collie, Shadow.
Preceding him in death were his parents; great-granddaughter, Torah; parents-in-law, Robert and Gladys Leonard; and several canine companions.
