Richard I. Jacobs, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A private family service will take place at a later date. Burial will take place at Walker Cemetery in Walker, Iowa. All guests are respectfully required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Richard was born on Aug. 14, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Elsie (Barnett) Jacobs. He graduated from Walker High School. Richard was united in marriage to Karen Caldbeck on Aug. 6, 1960. From this marriage, four children were born, Scott, Tricia, Greg and Brian. Richard worked for Rockwell Collins as an electrical inspector for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking and camping. Richard especially enjoyed building his 23T Roadster. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Karen Jacobs of Cedar Rapids; four children, Scott (Lanny Wilkerson) Jacobs, Tricia (Chad) Willenborg and Greg Jacobs (Kristie Long), all of Cedar Rapids, and Brian (Dee Dee) Jacobs of Osage Beach, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Chelsea) Jacobs, Robin Jacobs, Jacob (Allie) Willenborg, Luke Willenborg, Rachel (fiance, Drew Smith) Willenborg, Courtney (Derek) Siddell, Tyler (Kelsey) Jacobs, Bryanna Long and Lilyana Jacobs; one great-grandson, Milo Jacobs; one sister, Linda (Ron) Coleman of Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie Jacobs; and two brothers, Keith and Harold Jacobs.
