Richard “Dick” Hopkins passed away on August 11, 2025, at the age of 82, after a lengthy illness in Fort Worth, TX.
Born October 17, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Richard Hopkins and Luella Rich, he married Charlotte Batye in 1957, and they had three children. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Ronda Petersen, and they had three more children.
Richard owned and operated Hopkins Trucking, driving with Ronda until 2014 when she fell ill with cancer, and then solo until 2016. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, enjoyed working outside, cooking, and loved sharing recipes with friends and family. In 2020, he moved to Joshua, Texas, where he shared life and many happy memories with Dorothy “Dottie” Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ronda; son, Rick Allen; brother, Bobbie; granddaughter, Amanda; and grandson, James. He is survived by his children: Cindy Love (Russell), Tammy Hopkins, Richard Nolan Hopkins (Mayann), Regina Cooper (Byron), Rani Hopkins (LC) and grandchildren: Travis; Billy, Tiffany, and Shawn; Lainie and Nolan; Jacob and Taylor; Leighton, LayC, and LyRick; many Great Grand children, bonus daughter, Laurie and loving companion, Dottie.
Richard will be remembered for his hard work, love of family, and generous spirit and will be missed by all.
Richard’s final resting place is beside his late wife, Ronda; buried in Dysart Cemetery, Dysart Iowa. A celebration of life will be held October 11, 2025 at Harper’s Public House, in Dysart, Iowa from 1-4 pm.
