Chief Petty Officer, Richard Allen Goodall, 78, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home in Marion. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the chapel. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
Richard was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard and Ruby (Hawley) Goodall. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 12, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Richard served in Vietnam and achieved the rank of chief petty officer. He retired on Aug. 31, 1982, after 20 years of service. He taught at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was very active with the New Disciples Church. Richard married Bea Tucker-Vesely on Nov. 25, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his brother, Phillip (Jean) Goodall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Lori (William) Zimpfer of Arlington, Iowa; two stepchildren, Sherri (Jeff) Mahurin of Miami, Okla., and David (Brenda) Vesely of Arlington, Texas; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded by his parents; spouse, Bea; a sister, Katherine Franks; and two brothers, Thomas, and Lonnie.
