Richard was born on Oct. 15, 1928, in Williamsburg, Iowa, to F. Byron and Golden (Tarbox) Frazier. He graduated from Olin Consolidated High School in 1946. Richard served faithfully and honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Oct. 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Sara Jane Miller at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren in Waterloo, Iowa. They lived in Olin all of their married life.
During his period of 45 years of service in the United States Postal Service, he went from post office clerk for 16 years to rural mail carrier for 28 years. Being blessed with a nice voice, he also sang at many funerals and weddings as well as leading the church choir. He also lead a Boy Scout troop of six boys to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico on a 100-mile fork parking trek, including his two sons. He and his wife joined Little Bear Country Club at the time of its formation and served on the board. He was a member of Morley First United Methodist Church and the Blayney-Miner-Ahrendsen American Legion Post 412 of Olin. Richard enjoyed going to casinos, square dancing, attending his grandchildren's events and most of all spending time with his wife of 69 years.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sara Jane; children, Jeff (Sharm) Frazier of Cedar Falls and Dennis (Michelle) Frazier of Anamosa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eleanor (Richard) Hopewell and Joyce in infancy; and a brother, Jean Frazier.
