Richard “Dick” Raymond Hayes, 75, passed away on February 13th, 2025, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his wife and family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22nd at CR Sanctuary Church, 912 18th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Hayes of 49 years; son, Randy Mason of Davenport; daughters, Shelley Lawson of Cedar Rapids, Laura (Brent) Kelley of Marion; brothers, David (Kim) Hayes of Lisbon, Don Hayes of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ila Hayes; brother, Larry Rice, and sister, Lois Jean.

Richard resided in Cedar Rapids for most of his life with his wife and family. He retired from the CR Transit Bus Company. His previous jobs were cab driving, truck driving and motor repair.

He was a favorite to everyone who met him. He had a positive attitude regardless of the circumstances. He was so encouraging. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was a very social person. He loved road trips with special friends. He is now in eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
