RICHARD "DICK" MURRAY YENTER

Richard "Dick" Murray Yenter, 96, of Manchester, formerly of Oxford, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 9 a.m. until service time, with the Rev. Robert Cloos officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Oxford with military rites conducted by the American Legion and U.S. Marine Corps Honor Detail. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born on March 25, 1926, in Oxford, the son of Murray and Agnes (Jiras) Yenter. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1943, and as World War II was going on, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in the Pacific until 1946. Upon his return home, he farmed with his dad for 35 years. Richard married his high school sweetheart Mary Ann Springmire in 1947 and were married for 75 years this August. They had three children, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Jane Simmons from West Branch, Iowa; sons, Rick, and his wife, Nancy from Chipley, Fla., Jim, and his wife, Pam from Manchester; and his sister, Hap Kint of Manchester.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ioan, and her husband, Guy Lombardo, Hazelle, and her husband, Virgil Parker; brother-in-law, Buck Kint; sister-in-law, Dorothy, and her husband, George Haman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Oxford American Legion, which he was a member of for 70 Years.
