Richard "Dick" J. Foust, 73 of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, of a blood disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with a 3 p.m. Scripture service. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, with visitation one hour before Mass. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Dick was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of John F. and Florence (Kemp) Foust. He was a graduate of West Delaware High School. On Aug. 8, 1964, Dick married Dianne Sandman at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester. Dick was an entrepreneur and business owner. Dick was dedicated and supportive of the community, especially St. Mary's Catholic School and West Delaware. His grandchildren were very special to him, and he attended all of their events. Dick enjoyed playing cards, being on the farm and helping others.
He is survived by his wife Dianne; daughter, Kay (Mike) La Rosa of Manchester; grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily, Christopher and Stephanie La Rosa; siblings, Ron (Margaret) Foust of Atlanta, Ga., Judy Gudenkauf of Manchester, Jerry (Janet) Foust of Watertown, Wis., Bob (MaryAnn) Foust of Urbandale and Mary Jean Uptegraph of Dubuque; sister-in-law, Alice Soppe of Manchester; and brother-in-law, Paul (Carolyn) Sandman of Dubuque.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Martin and Laurien Sandman; brothers-in-law, Bob Soppe, Dennie Gudenkauf and Dwayne Uptegraph; sister-in-law, Diana Foust; and a niece, Jayne Swift.
