Richard “Dick” Arnold Prilipp, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Heritage Specialty Care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Richard and his family.
Richard was born August 6, 1944, in Owatonna, Minnesota, the son of Marvin Arnold and Gertrude Marie (Honken) Prilipp. He married Darlene Burns on May 8, 1966. They later divorced. Richard dedicated the majority of his career to working as a computer programmer in the technology industry at Rockwell Collins. Richard was known for his strong work ethic, sharp mind, and steady dedication to his profession. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Robins Fire Department.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Richard also loved traveling and camping, woodworking, and spending time playing games, cards and dominoes and also was a campground host. Above all else, Richard dearly loved his family and cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by three children: Jill Ellison of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Rodney) Hanson of Springville, and Kevin (Kristin) Prilipp of Franktown, Colorado; five grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Brien, Samantha, and Addyson; one sister, Marvena Janet of Rochester, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by loved ones.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Robins Fire Department.
