RICHARD "DICK" DEBRIE

Richard "Dick" DeBrie passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Dick was born Aug. 14, 1932, to Helen (Michel) and Lonnie DeBrie in Hills, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1949 and a week after graduation, he went to work for Moore Business Forms. While working there, he attended the University of Iowa. In 1951, he joined the Navy, and in 1955 was discharged. Upon his return to Moore Business Forms, he met and married his wife, Donna (Petersen) DeBrie, in 1956. Dick retired as plant manager in 1991.
He enjoyed bowling, golf and especially time at his home on Leach Lake, Minn., fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends. Dick and Donna built Hi Point Golf Course with his in-laws, Hank and Jeneta Petersen.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, John DeBrie, and his wife, Ann; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mangold and Tootie Wood; 10 nieces and nephews; and his beloved wiener dog, Dixie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
