Richard Dean O’Connor, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, following a long illness. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Richard is survived by wife of almost 60 years, Carol; son, Kevin of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Sapphire Sproston of Cedar Rapids; nephew, Randy O’Connor; his cat, Buddy; and several members of his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry; and brother, Bill.
Richard was born on June 9, 1941, in Waterloo, son of William and Eva Cameron O’Connor. On Nov. 2, 1963, he married Carol Ann Dellinger. Richard started working at Rockwell Collins in 1964 and retired 40 years later as a CNC operator. He was a member of IBEW Local #1362.
Richard enjoyed fixing things, crocheting and working word puzzles. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.
