Richard Dean Engen, 73, of Central City, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at his daughter's home surrounded by his family. In agreement with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City.
Richard was born Feb. 17, 1945, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Charlie and Esther (Landmeyer) Engen. He was employed at Penick & Ford and then self-employed as a carpenter. Richard enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, carpentry work, watching various running and track and field events, as well as cooking and baking. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Denise Engen, Wendy (Micheal) Stevens and Chris (Jessica) Engen, all of Central City, Jeff (Megan) Engen of Center Point, and Sandy Engen of Marion; 15 grandchildren with one on the way, Jeremy (Randi) Domer, Allison Domer, Erica (Tyler) Meyer, Jessicca Stevens, Jeffrey (Chelsea) Stevens, Dominque Stevens, Brandon Stevens, Tessa Engen, Clayton Engen, Tryston Engen, Caya Engen, Alexis Engen, Haley Engen, Delaney Engen and Kinley Engen; six great-grandchildren, Blakely Domer, Trevor Domer, Tegan Meyer, Tatum Meyer, Trey Stevens and Alexander Enabnit; and two sisters, Betty Haltmeyer of Traer and Helen Ramsey of Waterloo.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charles Engen, Harlan Engen and Leland Engen.
