It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Richard Dale DeLong, 70, of Anamosa, IA, who, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer and COPD, lost the battle on May 26, 2025, peacefully at home with his wife Chris at his side. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 22, 2025 at Fawn Creek Country Club from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
Rich was born on February 2, 1955, in Merced, CA; however, he lived the majority of his life in Eastern Iowa. Son of Jerry and Joanne (Shields) DeLong. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids in 1973. He was briefly married, and this union resulted in two beautiful daughters. On July 15, 1995, Rich married the Love of his Life, Chris Lamy Bodensteiner, on the Fawn Creek Country Club Golf Course.
Throughout the years, Rich worked for RJ Kool, CR Washer Leasing (his parents’ business), and Century Laundry. Rich had a passion for golfing and made the Eastern Iowa and Tri Rivers Teams many years.
He is survived by his loving wife Chris; his two beloved daughters, Sara (Alex) Stephenson of Center Point and Katy DeLong of Central City; his brother, Doug (Mary) DeLong of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Hayden DeLong, Lucy Stephenson, and Roman Stephenson; and his nephew, Luke DeLong.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Joanne DeLong, and his sister, Julie DeLong.
The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Palliative Care and Above and Beyond Hospice for all their assistance and guidance, making Rich's journey as comfortable as possible.
