Richard Burmahl, 59, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at New Life Community Church, Monticello, with interment in the Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Pastor Doug DiBell and Pastor Ralph Rolfes will officiate at the services.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn; four children, Nicki (Chris) Rasmussen, Jason (Theresa) Burmahl and Becca and Brianna Burmahl; four grandchildren, Autumn, Hannah, Elise and Jase; his parents, Bob and Judee Burmahl; his mother- and father-in-law, Bill and Virginia Hintz; a sister, Bobbie (Bob) Larson; and a brother, Rusty (Peaches) Burmahl. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela.
Richard Eugene Burmahl was born May 5, 1959, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Judith Willman-Burmahl. He graduated from Midland Community High School in 1977. Rich worked over the years at Cuckler Building, Hintz Service, Star Manufacturing, Swiss Valley Ag, Sherman's Equipment and Welter Storage. For the past 17 years he has been employed at Iowa Walls and Concrete.
Rich was a member of the New Life Community Church. He was a Boy Scout leader and served on the Jones County Fair Board and the Jones County Dairy Board. He also helped at the horse shows at the Jones County Fair and the Wyoming Fair. Rich was an avid cap collector with a collection well into the thousands.
