Dick Hardesty, CM Sgt. USAF (Ret.), was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on May 19, 1933 to W. Wade and Ellen Hardesty. He died Jan 17, 2026 in Seffner, FL.
He served in the Air Force for over 24 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was privileged to go on a Flight to Honor (FL) on his birthday in 2015. After he retired from the Air Force, he received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Finance. He later taught Government Contracting at the University of South Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita, and their daughter, Sandra and family. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage; son Richard II and family, daughters April (Marty) Nye and family, and Debbie Deissroth and family; and his brother, Mike Hardesty of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan, and sister Sallyann Orf.
