Richard Allan Blessing, 80, of Toddville, died at home on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. The family suggests that friends celebrate Richard's life in a manner that is comforting to them and reminds them of Richard's life works. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation is serving the family.
Dick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lori; daughters, DeAnn Moon of Cedar Rapids, Priya (Mike) Strongleaf of Indiana, Tammy (George) Reyes of California and Corey Pennington of Washington; several grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Trumpold and Marleen Hedges; and brother, Donald Blessing.
Dick was born on Feb. 3, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, son of John and Kathryn Lowe Blessing. He graduated in 1959 from Jefferson High School and attended the Devry Institute. An Army veteran, Dick was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. In 1959, he began working at Collins Radio, where he retired in 2000 from production scheduling. Dick was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and volunteered at events in Marion, such as the Return of the Turkey Trot, the Swamp Fox Festival and the Tanager Festival.
Dick enjoyed ham radio, working with the pit crew for stock cars and visiting. He loved being with family and will be missed by those who knew him.
