Rexroat, Esther Mae
Esther Mae Rexroat, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Silvercrest of Anamosa. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church in Marion. The Rev. Bill Warhover will officiate at the service. Friends may call starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Internment will be at the Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are her children, Sue Hopfensperger (Colin Dorman) of Anamosa, Michael (Marcia) Rexroat of Moline, Ill., and Debra Rexroat (Deb Swords) of Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Wanita (Roger) Broessel of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Arin McKinley, Scott Rexroat, Cara Rexroat, Mandy Cleveland, Molli Hopfensperger, Jake Hopfensperger and Katie Hopfensperger; one great-grandchild, Keaton McKinley and two more on the way; a special friend, Duane Sarby; and many nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Lee (1985); a son, Terry Rexroat in the Vietnam War (1969); and two sisters, Wilma Kubu and Edna Newton.
Esther Mae Reese was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Lena Petersen Reese. Esther was a 1943 graduate of Olin High School. Esther Mae Reese was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Rexroat on Feb. 10, 1945. They spent their early married years in the Anamosa area and later resided in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the Echo Hill Presbyterian Church in Marion, formerly Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church, American Business Women Association, Gold Star Mother's, Kitchen Dialog and the Quilter's Guild. Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
The family would like to thank Silvercrest for the wonderful care given, especially Chelsea who had a special bond with our Mother and also Above & Beyond hospice for helping our Mother through her journey.
