Rev. Clinton Ernest Jeffers, 96, of Lisbon, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024. A visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on November 26, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, 533 Johnson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Clinton was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Cleo Jeffers and Ruth Dodge on September 20, 1928. He married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve Luedke in Chippewa Falls on August 28, 1948, then went on to pursue his calling as a minister of the Gospel at Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Pastor Jeffers served congregations in Walker and Lisbon, Iowa, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and after retirement, in Cedar Rapids and in Covington. For a number of years, he was the Wisconsin state representative for Bible Literature International.
Clinton was a dedicated man of God whose life's passion was to lead others into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. He deeply loved his family and his friends, and he served his congregations well with his outgoing and winsome personality. He had a strong commitment for overseas missions and those who served abroad.
His life of unwavering faith was a testimony to many, over the years, continuing on to the very day he died. He will be greatly missed here on earth, but we rejoice he is finally home with his Lord in heaven.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy (Mark) Risse of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Andrew (Malynda) Gregg, Timothy (Iris) Gregg, Kirsten (Rusty) Mensch, Daniel (Michelle) Risse, Michael (Jacquelyn) Risse, and Alaina Risse (fiance Jordan Hicks), and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Genevieve, his daughter Vickie, and a brother, Gordon Jeffers.
