Reta M. Hunte, 86, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday June 24, 2021, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Reta was born on Aug. 28, 1934, in Marion, Iowa, and the family then move to Garden City, Mich. She moved back to Iowa after the passing of her parents, John Franklin Etzel and Lillian Rachel Mc Gowan Etzel. Shortly thereafter, she married Robert Hunte on Oct. 25, 1952. They enjoyed 69 years together.
Reta was a telephone operator and also worked at Rockwell Collins. She spent most of her years raising five kids and was a wonderful and caring mother and wife. She was an amazing and selfless women who always put everyone else before her. Cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family brought her joy in life. She was known for her beauty inside and out.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Hunte of Springville, Iowa; sons, John Hunte (Julie Kann), Fred (Margie) Hunte and James Hunte; and daughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Owensby. She is also survived by her sister, Barb (Bob) Sabo; grandchildren, Laura (Trey) Sedenka, Jessica (Ryan) Sugg, Alex (Dylan) Carr and Kayla (Alex) Hunte; and great-grandchildren, Remington and Wyatt Sedenka, Jude Swail, Leo Sugg, and soon-to-be Colter Carr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph F. Hunte; sisters, Dorothy Odean and Mildred Harford; and brother, Frank Etzel.
Memorial service will be Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Springville Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation.
