Remington, Brenda L.
Brenda L. Remington, 58, of Oelwein, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Grandview Health Care Center, Oelwein. Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Jim Parton. A visitation begins at noon Monday.
She was born Jan. 2, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Pauline M. and Oliver Martin. She married Loyal Clarke and later divorced. She then married Dan Remington and later divorced. Brenda attended Marion High School and received her diploma from Kirkwood Community College. She was a devoted mother and loved rural life. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. Brenda found strength in her relationship with Christ. In April 2005, an automobile accident left Brenda a quadriplegic. She resided at Grandview Health Center in Oelwein for eight years.
She is survived by her father, Oliver D. Martin of Nevada; her sons, Christian Clarke of Marion and Nic Remington of Cedar Rapids; her daughter, Carrie Berns of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Eli (Dennis) Whitney of Maine, Tom Martin of California and Don Martin of Texas; four sisters, Cass (Cathy) Martin of Maine, Linda Matheny of Arizona, Judy Garcia of Georgia and Janet Huddleston of Arizona; her best friend, cousin Cindy Pittsley of Illinois; and very dear friend, Barb Lentz of Maine.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Steele; and brother, Mike Whitney.
