Remembering Ruby Bounds Boswell

This year Ruby would have celebrated her 75th birthday on 8/20/2025. Ruby was a daughter, mother, sister, Auntie, cousin and confidant to many. She was loved by so many. Her body has been removed from this earth, but our memories of her will live on forever.

Ruby was employed at Quaker oats for a number of years before she returned to school to get her beautician license; she owned and operator Styles and More. Ruby also volunteered time working with young girls at McKinley Junior high school.

Ruby loved people and she loved the Cedar Rapids Community. Ruby developed an event for bringing the community together after folks had moved away, the event took place at Van Vechten Park and was called “The old school reunion”. Ruby continued putting this event on after she moved away to Peoria, Illinois.

Ruby was a fun-loving person. She loved music, dancing, playing cards, board games and sports. Ruby especially loved watching her grandchildren compete in various sports.

Ruby’s energy and zest for life will always be missed.

Please Join family and friends for music food, drink, and shared memories. A balloon release celebrating the date of Ruby’s birth will be held.
