Relda D. Streets, 95, of Anamosa, formerly of Morley, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Ridge View Senior Living, after a brief illness. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Jim Parton, Cedar Memorial certified celebrant will officiate.
Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Anita (August) Paulsen of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Lurine McGee of Wrangell, Ala.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Carisa (Sam) Atkins of Columbia, Mo., and Bryan (Theresa) Paulsen of Washburn, Wis.; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kirsten Atkins and Laura and Benjamin
Paulsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lenard.
Relda was born Oct. 28 1918, in rural Greenfield Township, Jones County, the daughter of Perry and Blanche Shoop Russell. She graduated from Morley High School in 1935 and went on to the Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) for two years. Relda taught school in Linn and Jones County for several years.
She married Lenard Streets on Sept. 30, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He passed away in 2006. They started farming in the Whittier area and
later moved to the home farm near Morley, where they farmed until 1970. They retired in 1978 and moved to Anamosa.
Relda was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations may be given to Unity Point Hospice or to Ridge View Senior Living.
