Rekemeyer, Gaylon R.
Gaylon R. Rekemeyer, 75, of Tipton, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at his home in Tipton. A visitation will take place today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, with Pastor Barbra Keiper officiating. Burial will be at Inland Cemetery, Bennett.
Gaylon Rhea Rekemeyer, son of Fredrick Wilhelm and Amanda Thiering Rekemeyer, was born Nov. 2, 1933, in Bennett, Iowa. He was a 1951 graduate of Bennett High School. Gaylon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On Oct. 25, 1958, Gaylon was united in marriage to Ardis Ellen Fahrenkrog at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Gaylon retired from farming in 1990. He was a member of Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, Rixe-Lausen Post 104 Bennett American Legion, Dixon Sheepshead Club and was director for Clarence Cooperative.
Gaylon is loved and survived by his wife, Ardis Rekemeyer of Tipton; daughters, Ellen (Russ) Harrison of Johnston, Amy (Ken) Miller of Radcliffe and Angela (Devin) Moeller of New Liberty; three grandchildren, Ann (Chris) Hilton, Jeffrey (Amanda) Harrison and Jarod Moeller; two stepgrandchildren, Matt Miller and Nick Miller; one great-grandchild, William Harrison; sisters, Nelda (Elmer) Siebke of Davenport and Nola Borchers of Wheatland; and brothers, Fred (Janice) Rekemeyer of Tipton and Dallas (JoAnn) Rekemeyer of Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ann Beth; brothers, Melvin, Norman, Harry and Roger Rekemeyer; and sister, Alice Wiese.
Memorials may be made to Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett.
